Thinking globally and acting locally means having an global issue and seeing how other countries and states act on the issue or how the issue affects different areas.
The effects on abortions and abortion period is a global issue. Different states and countries are for abortion and women’s rights to have abortions and some are against abortions on all stands. In Other States “In Africa for instance, several countries including Kenya, Ethiopia, and Rwanda in recent years amended or clarified their laws to allow access to abortion in cases where the mother’s health is in danger.” I understand that most countries like some that I have mention approve abortion, as long as it doesn’t affect the woman’s health.
But there are also some countries and states that are strictly against abortion. That disagree with abortions on all levels. The author reveals “In El Salvador abortion is illegal in all cases, even when the doctors consider the procedure to be medically necessary. Moreover, the government vigorously enforces the ban.” Just because some countries and states approve abortions as long as it doesn’t endanger an women’s health. There are some that are some that strongly enforce non abortion, even if you needed it save your life. This is an serious issue that a lot of countries have but want handle it the same.
The effects of abortion and the effects of prison are similar but also different issues in the nation. They are similar because in both cases you go through a time where you go through an experience of emotional phase of isolation and depression. The author acknowledge “Support from loved ones can play a critical role in helping people overcome mental challenges, and isolation can increase a person’s risk of mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.”This means just like a teenager going through an abortion feelings of depression and isolation. The author reports “Women who have experienced abortion have a 65% higher risk for developing long-term clinical depression than non-abortive women. Women with no history of anxiety are 30% more likely to develop generalized anxiety symptoms after an abortion.” Different issues but the same emotional risk that you develop both a prisoner and someone who is getting an abortion will through go these processes.
But just like there are similarities there are also differences. In prison you are sentence a certain amount of time or years for your crime. to see how long you will have to adjust and go through your process. The author declares “Offenders who are sentenced to two or more years will serve half their sentence in prison and serve the rest of the sentence in the community on licence.” Unlike offenders, young teenage mothers who go through abortion do not get the pleasure of knowing how long they would have to face the process of the emotional phase. The author expresses “I am 19,I can't get over my abortion and it's changing who I am.” This shows that as a teenager no one told her that after her abortion that she would still be going through the the effects of an abortion.
